Fluid–Rock Interactions in Geothermal Reservoirs, Germany: Thermal Autoclave Experiments Using Sandstones and Natural Hydrothermal Brines

چکیده
Abstract As renewable energy, geothermal can contribute substantially to the energy transition. To generate electricity or harvest heat, high-saline fluids are tapped by wells of a few kilometres and extracted from hydrothermal reservoirs. After heat exchanger units have been passed by, these reinjected into reservoir. Due pressure temperature differences between subsurface surface, as well cooling in power plant, unwanted chemical reactions occur within reservoir, borehole, plant itself. This reduce permeability reservoir output plant. study aims simulate real using batch leaching experiments with sandstone powder solid phase, deionised water natural brine liquid phase. It is demonstrated that fluid composition changes after only days. In particular, calcite, aragonite, clay minerals, zinc phases precipitate brine. contrast, particular minerals containing potassium, arsenic, barium, silica dissolved. experimental set-up, mineral mainly took place on surface samples, which why no substantial petrophysical properties could be observed. However, it assumed observed scale relevant influence parameters such permeability.

Geothermal Reservoirs in Hydrothermal Convection Systems
T Abstract Geothermal reservoirs commonly exist in hydrothermal convection systems involving fluid circulation downward in areas of recharge and upwards in areas of discharge. Because such reservoirs are not isolated from their surroundings, the nature of thermal and hydrologic connections with the rest of the system may have significant effects on the natural state of the reservoir and on its ...
متن کاملThermodynamic Model for Predicting Interactions of Geothermal Brines with Hydrothermal Aluminum Silicate Minerals
We report our continued progress on the development of a thermochemical model of aluminum silicate mineral solubilities in aqueous solutions containing H, Na, K, Al, Cl, Si(OH)4, SiO(OH)3 , OH, Al(OH), Al(OH)2 , Al(OH)3 , Al(OH)4 − as a function of pH to high salt concentrations (I ≤ 5 m). Prior conference proceedings outlined our progress in developing an accurate model for the potassium free ...
متن کاملCharacterization of Fractures in Geothermal Reservoirs Using Resistivity
The optimal design of production in fractured geothermal reservoirs requires knowledge of the resource’s connectivity, therefore making fracture characterization highly important. This study aims to develop methodologies to use resistivity measurements to infer fracture properties in geothermal fields. The resistivity distribution in the field can be estimated by measuring potential differences...
متن کاملSimulation of Radon Transport in Geothermal Reservoirs
The radon simulation model has been used to simulate radon concentration response during production drawdown and two flowrate transient tests in vapor-dominated systems. Comparison of model simulation with experimental data from field tests provides insight in the analysis of reservoir phenomena such as propagation of boiling fronts, and estimates of reservoir properties of porosity and permeab...
متن کاملOptimization of Reinjection in Geothermal Reservoirs
Re-injection of produced geothermal water for pressure support is a common practice in geothermal field management. The location selection of the reinjection well and the rate of injection is a challenging subject for geothermal reservoir engineers. The goal of optimization for this type of problem is usually to find one or more combinations of geothermal re-injection well locations that will m...
